Islamic State Wilayats
Interactive World Map

The Islamic State (IS) separates territory it operates in into different wilayats or provinces. Each green marker on the map represents an IS wilayat. Each wilayat has its own logo and media production effort. The wilayats often take the name of the province or area they operate in. The majority of the wilayats are in Iraq and Syria but due to other jihadi groups pledging allegiance and merging into IS, it now also claims wilayats in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Russia, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Bahrain and Tunisia. This map will be regularly updated when new wilayats are declared or dissolved.
