Since Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi announced the formation of the Islamic State (IS) on 29 Jun. 2014 and called for jihadi groups around the world to pledge allegiance, groups have continued to fall in line with IS. As of 1 May 2015, thirty-three jihadi groups have pledged their allegiance or expressed support for IS. The above map shows the spread of those announcements by jihadi groups over time from 29 Jun. 2014 to 1 May 2015. Below is the list of jihadi groups that have pledged allegiance/support. After the group name is the primary country of operation for that group.
