Incidents Involving Airports

The following charts show terrorist and rebel incidents involving airports by country tracked by IntelCenter in the ICD Incident Component for 2014 as of 20 Jun. 2014.

As of 20 Jun. 2014, there have been 52 terrorist and rebel incidents involving airports in 2014. The highest number of incidents occurred in Syria at 29% (15). Somalia came in second at 17% (9). Iraq came in third at 10% (5) and Kenya following in fourth at 8% (4). Yemen, Libya and Afghanistan tied for fifth at 6% (3) each.

The level of attacks for Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, Libya and Kenya are all expected to continue to rise through 2014.

In total for the 52 incidents, 132 people were killed and 93 injured. On average three people were killed per incident and two injured. The highest number killed in any one incident was 49 and the lowest zero. The highest number injured in any one incident was 25 and the lowest zero.
