Methodology Note:
While IntelCenter makes every attempt to identify all incidents, the nature of reporting makes that nearly impossible. These numbers should be viewed as minimums with the total number likely higher where it could be expected to be so. The deaths of terrorist or rebels by security forces were not counted. This report is focused on counting the deaths of the victims of terrorist and rebel attacks, however, if two rebel groups attacked each other their deaths were counted. The original source data for all incidents shown here is located in the IntelCenter Database (ICD) Incident Component.
The IntelCenter Database (ICD) allows users to easily create charts tracking tactics and targeting along with many other metrics related to terrorist and rebel groups. As of 19 Jun. 2015, the ICD has detailed records on more than 133,000 incidents. IntelCenter also provides analytical support services on terrorist and rebel tactics and targeting.
